The Maid of Erin Pageant is sponsored by the United Irish Societies.

The young women of the Maid of Erin Court appear at different United Irish Society functions around town during the year. Most functions are during the St. Patrick's Day celebration week, but there are a few additional during the year.

• Mass at St. Pat's on Parade Day
• The Parade Fundraiser
• Grand Marshall Brunch
• Painting of the Shamrocks
• The WJR Radio show on St. Patrick's Day
• Mass at Holy Trinity on St. Patrick's Day
• The Souper Bowl for the Capuchin Kitchen
• Anniversary Mass at Holy Redeemer

The Queen receives a cash prize of $700 and each girl on the Court receives $300.

CONTEST QUALIFICATIONS

• You must be or Irish Descent
• Between 17 and 24 years of age.
• You must be single and never have been married, nor had children.
• Appropriate dress will be announced.
• You must submit a photograph with the official entry form.
• The official biographical form must be completed as a part of the official entry form. (entry_maid-of-erin.doc(60k)
• Be prepared with a 3 minute display of talent.
• You must submit a $20.00 entry fee.

CONTEST JUDGING

DATE: February 24, 2007
PLACE: Irish American Club/Gaelic League, 2068 Michigan Avenue, Detroit Michigan
METHOD OF SELECTION: Poise, appearance, speaking ability and knowledge of Irish culture.

REHEARSAL DATES

• February 11th and 18th 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gaelic League
